Some simple web server apps, such as Subsonic, are able to stream my media library from my home computer to my mobile devices. I'm also able to give others access to my media library as guests who can all stream at the same time from my system. It even includes a native media player and web-based interface. It's open source, so including it (or something similar) could be relatively easy to implement.
